Why this matters: our read

Checked October 17: the October 9 early-bird date has passed; the Academy page still lists the October 26 final deadline as open. Entry window only; no nominations or ceremony dates yet.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is accepting 2027 Canadian Screen Awards entries through its submission portal. The page is undated; it was re-checked on October 17.

Both television/digital and film categories share the same entry calendar: the call opened September 23, the early-bird cutoff was October 9, and the final deadline for entries and video content remains October 26.

Eligible work spans September 1, 2025 to November 15, 2026 for television and digital media (news and sports to August 31, 2026) and January 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 for film.

Entrants pay a $130.00 CAD deposit per submission at entry; the Academy charges the balance after it vets the submission. The deposit is refunded if a subsidy is granted or categories are removed after submission.

The Academy also runs an Equity & Inclusion Fund that can defer that deposit on a needs basis. Most of the pool—80%—is reserved for underrepresented applicants the Academy lists on the awards page (including Black and Indigenous applicants, people of colour, disabled applicants, and 2SLGBTQIA+ members). Subsidy applications have closed; the Academy says notice goes out in December.

The deadline to appeal the 2027 rules is also October 26.

The page says more 2027 dates will follow and gives no dates yet for nominations or the ceremony.
